Black & Gold Gala Online Celebration

On November 2, the Nursing Foundation of Pennsylvania (NFP) held its second annual Black & Gold Gala in Harrisburg. NFP, a supporting organization of PSNA, is a non-profit, statewide scholarship program inspiring and supporting current and future nursing students. The organization is approved by PANA’s Standards for Excellence program, which encourages excellence and integrity in non-profit management. Through NFP and its donors, nursing students can begin their journey to care for each of us in the community.

When

The Gala celebration continues online through December 31 as we work to ensure nurses for tomorrow. Help us support nurses, students, and patients through an individual gift or a donation to honor a loved one.

2019 Award Honorees

President’s Award

This award recognizes professionals who show outstanding devotion, originality, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to the improvement of health care.

This year’s recipients are a powerhouse team, Mark and Ann Baiada, Bayada Home Health Care. This team’s contributions to home health care have both modernized and revitalized treatment and care for its clients. The Bayada Way understands that patients want high-quality compassionate home care accompanied by a place where they are comfortable, safe and independent. Mark and Ann possess a passion for helping others. Proving this passion by caring for special care patients that other home care organizations have turned away. Their passion is not only for their patients but also for their family of employees too. When Bayada Home Health Care served its 1 millionth client, 20 million dollars in monetary gifts were distributed to the Bayada staff. It is this care and commitment to health care that Mark and Ann were chosen to be recognized by NFP.

Diversity Leadership Award

This award was created to recognize individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to promoting full and equal participation in the healthcare profession through the encouragement and inclusion of women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and persons of differing sexual orientations and gender identities.

The first recipient of this award is in honor or Dr. Patrick Kenny.  Patrick spent his career fighting for those who are under-represented – men in nursing, the LGBTQ community, and patients with HIV/AIDS. In his 40 plus years of membership with the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA), Patrick held virtually every electable office and served on every committee. During his service, he never hesitated to speak out against or prevent injustice. Patrick actively engaged the next generation of members and students, empowering and inspiring them to continue the work of patient care and professional advocacy. Sadly, Patrick passed away in January of 2019 leaving us a legacy of laughter, love, and passion.
