Helping Veterans and Their Families Meet Nursing Education Goals
The NFP is proud to support the Department of Pennsylvania Veterans of Foreign Wars with its Jack E. Barger Sr. Memorial Nursing Scholarship.
The VFW established a dedicated scholarship fund in 1989 in honor of Jack E. Barger Sr., Department Commander, 1987-1988, who passed away during his term of office. Open to eligible military veterans and their family members, the scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduate nursing students in Pennsylvania as they pursue their education goals. Recipients apply through the NFP Scholarship Program and are selected by means of a lottery conducted by the VFW Chairperson.
Through the generosity of friends of the nursing profession, VFW members and their supporters, the scholarship fund in Jack’s name helps ensure nurses for tomorrow.
